Will My Health Insurance Cover My Care For Vein Problems? Most insurance companies will cover treatments for varicose veins that are causing problems despite conservative management. Conservative management means a trial of compression hose for 3-6 months. If you continue to have pain or swelling despite wearing compression hose, then most insurance carriers will cover EVLT or microphlebectomy. Insurance does not usually cover the treatment of spider veins, and these treatments are paid for by the patient.

The laser radiation is introduced in pulse mode and guided along the vein's lumen by slowly and continuously retracting the fiber. Activation of the laser or radio frequency catheter as the device is slowly pulled back along the course of the vein being treated.

There are two primary causes of varicose veins, these are aging and pregnancy. As people age, veins may experience a loss of elasticity, which will cause them to stretch. When the valves located in your veins become weakened, this allows blood that normally moves in the direction of your heart to flow backward. When this happens blood begins to pool in the veins, and the result is the veins become enlarged and varicose. The blue color of varicose veins is caused by the collection of deoxygenated blood, which is being re-circulated to the lungs.

Varicose veins look swollen and stretched all the time. Varicose veins are dark purple or blue in color and may appear twisted and bulging ??? like cords. Itching around one or more of your veins. Skin at the ankle discolored brown. They commonly appear on the backs of the calves or on the inside of the leg. Causes varicose veins include congenitally defective valves, thrombophlebitis, and pregnancy. Prolonged standing and increased pressure within the abdomen may increase susceptibility to the development of varicose veins or aggravate the condition. If other family members had varicose veins, there's a greater chance you will too. Being overweight puts added pressure on your veins. Wearing loose clothing and avoiding long periods of standing can also help.

9. Anti-inflammatory medication such as ibuprofen or aspirin can be used as part of treatment for superficial thrombophlebitis.

4. Avoid wearing tight clothing such as girdles or belts. 5. Avoid alcohol, which can cause the veins in your legs to dilate. 6. Sclerotherapy has been used in the treatment of varicose veins.

Vulvar Varicose Vein The increase in the level of hormones as well as the amount of blood passing through the veins during pregnancy, and the enlarging of the uterus puts extra pressure on the vulvar resulting in varicose veins.

Will Getting Rid Of Varicose And Spider Veins Hurt My Circulation? The varicose veins that are being treated are not doing their job, and therefore are not missed when they are treated. The body has numerous other veins that are taking blood back towards the heart, and they take over the role of the varicose veins after treatment.

Confirmation by ultrasound that the treated vein has been closed as a result of the energy transfer from the laser or radiofrequency catheter. Self-care measures such as wearing compression stockings, elevating the legs, and exercising regularly may relieve symptoms and keep varicose veins from getting worse. Various treatments such as sclerotherapy, newer laser techniques, radiofrequency closure technique, and surgery are options when symptoms persist or if concern exists about the appearance of varicose veins.

Varicose Veins Treatment Tips 1. Wear compression stockings. 2. Do not cross your legs when sitting. 3. Elevate your legs as much as possible.

What are the symptoms of varicose veins? Varicose veins may cause aching of the legs. The ankles, calf and feet may swell towards day's end, especially in hot weather. Varicose+Veins' target=_blank>Varicose veins can become sore and inflamed, causing redness of the skin around them. Skin changes from long standing vein problems include thickening of the skin, a brown discoloration, red rashes, and skin infections. Some patients with severe vein problems can develop sores on the ankles, known as venous ulceration. These are often difficult to heal, and can be helped by treating the underlying vein problem to prevent the reflux that led to the ulceration.

If you are worried though, it will be a good idea to ask your doctor about the varicose veins on your uterus periodically. This will ensure that they have not progressed to a point where you should seek treatment. If the condition begins to cause you any sort of discomfort or pain, mention it to your doctor as soon as possible so he can advise you on the best choice of treatment.

If you are one of the many people affected by unsightly veins in your legs, there are non-surgical alternatives for this condition. One example of an all natural alternative to surgery is Veinulux, an all natural matrix formulated to supplement the vein enhancing supplements most people can't get from their daily diet. Why suffer any more? Everyone deserves to feel good about their appearance, don't let your confidence be ruined by unattractive bulging veins.

How Does Endovenous Therapy Work? Endovenous Laser Therapy (EVLT) treats the incompetent greater saphenous vein (GSV). The GSV vein courses along the inside part of the leg from the groin to the ankle, and is frequently the underlying cause of varicose veins. The procedure is done in the office under local anesthesia using ultrasound guidance. A laser fiber is passed through a small sheath inserted into the GSV. As the laser is activated, the resulting heat treats the inner lining of the vein causing it to seal. The whole procedure is performed through a tiny skin incision, so there is no post-operative scarring. Pressure is applied to the treated veins using compression hose or other compressive dressings. The recovery time from EVLT is rapid as there are no large surgical incisions or side effects of general anesthesia. Normal activities can be resumed the net day. Vigorous physical activity such as weight lifting and aerobics are not advised during this time, and we advice that patients do not take plane flights for at least one week after the procedure. Why Endovenous Laser Therapy Instead of Other Treatment of Varicose Veins? The benefits of EVLT are the following: 1. A simple procedure 2. Performed under local anesthetic 3. Minimally invasive, so minimal risk of scarring and postoperative infection 4. The procedure takes about one hour and avoids surgery in the operating room with its associated costs 5. Rapid recovery with reduced postoperative pain 6. Normal activities can be resumed almost immediately 7. Excellent clinical and aesthetic results 8. Covered by most insurance companies including Medicare after failure of conservative medical management

These vulvar Varicose+Veins' target=_blank>varicose veins will usually disappear after your pregnancy. If these vulvar varicose veins persist after your pregnancy, you may need surgery to remove them.

What Is Involved In The Care After Treatment? We recommended compression hose or some other type of compression dressing after treatments. These dressings are usually worn for one day following sclerotherapy and 1-2 weeks after EVLT. Compression stockings come in different styles, sizes and colors. We advise return to a normal physical activity routine after the procedure, but vigorous aerobic exercise is not recommended for 2 weeks after ELVT. Sclerotherapy patient can resume normal exercise the day after treatment.

Varicose veins are veins that have become enlarged and twisted. Varicose veins, in the legs, affect about 30% of adults at some point in their life. Varicose veins are a common condition in the United States, affecting up to 15 percent of men and up to 25 percent of women. Varicose veins are common in the superficial veins of the legs, which are subject to high pressure when standing. For many people, varicose veins and spider veins ??? a common, mild and medically insignificant variation of varicose veins ??? are simply a cosmetic concern. For other people, varicose veins can cause aching pain and discomfort. Sometimes the condition leads to more serious problems. Varicose veins may also signal a higher risk of other disorders of the circulatory system.

There is a garment available especially for persons suffering from varicose veins in the groin and upper thigh areas of the body, including the abdominal area. This garment can be worn by those suffering from abdominal varicose vein to find some relief from the condition.

For most people, varicose veins are just a cosmetic problem. Spider veins which are another common, milder variation of the traditional varicose veins are another cosmetic concern for these people. Unfortunately for others, varicose veins can actually cause pain and discomfort. In some cases Varicose+Veins' target=_blank>varicose veins can lead to more-serious problems. Varicose veins could also be an indicator of a higher risk of other problems associated with the circulatory system. Treatment can vary from person to person, and may require certain self-care measures or in more severe cases procedures by a medical practitioner to shut or remove veins.

Varicose veins or spider veins appear on the legs when the leaflets of the valves found in the legs that are intended to control the valves from flowing backwards are not able to function properly. When the blood flows backward instead of forward unsightly and oftentimes bulky veins appear as well. There are two types of varicose veins: the reticular veins or blue veins and the telangiectasis or spider veins that differ greatly in terms of the size and the location of the veins.

Restylane Fillers are used to plump up fine lines and wrinkles, some scars and folds. It augments the lips by restoring volume and definition. Dermal fillers can increase the cheek volume or remove the hollows.

Varicose veins can trigger death. Not true! Although varicose veins can result to other medical conditions like ulcer, it cannot cause death. Since varicose veins are just part of the superficial veins that consist just about 10 percent of the blood found in the legs, it can be removed surgically or otherwise and treated well without causing any harm.

7. Walking is good exercise. It can help the muscles force the blood out of the deeper vein system. 8. If you are overweight, try to lose weight. A healthy diet high in fiber and low in fat and salt can help.

During pregnancy some women may develop varicose veins. When women become pregnant the volume of blood in your body increases, when this happens the flow of blood from your legs to your pelvis decreases. The purpose of this change in circulation is intended to support the growing fetus. Unfortunately these changes may produce an unwanted side effect such as the enlarging of the veins in the legs. Varicose veins can appear for the first time during pregnancy, or for some people, become more prominent during late pregnancy, xbecause the uterus puts more pressure on the veins in the legs. Changes in hormones throughout pregnancy also may also contribute to the development of varicose veins. Unsightly veins which occur during pregnancy usually get better on their own without medical treatment within a few months after the baby is born.

Prolonged standing and increased pressure within the abdomen may increase susceptibility to the development of varicose veins or aggravate the condition. Varicose veins of pregnancy most often are caused by hormonal changes that render vein walls and the valves themselves more pliable, but the sudden appearance of new dilated varicosities during pregnancy still warrants a full evaluation because of the possibility that these may be new bypass pathways related to acute DVT. Varicose veins look swollen and stretched all the time. Varicose veins are dark purple or blue in color and may appear twisted and bulging ??? like cord. It is not necessary that any pain in the legs is varicose veins. If one feels any kind of pain in the legs, it is highly recommended to consult the doctor for further assistance.

Will Abnormal Veins Come Back After Treatment? After sclerotherapy for spider veins, a small number of patients who have a natural tendency to form spider veins will need yearly treatments or "touch-ups". Larger varicose veins can also recur, especially if one gains weight, or does not wear compression hose. These recurrences are usually not as severe as the initial episode, and can be treated with sclerotherapy or microphlebectomy.

Varicose Veins Varicose veins are swollen veins (usually on the legs) that look lumpy and bluish through the skin. They occur when the valves in the veins become weak, allowing blood to collect in the leg veins instead of travelling back to the heart. At the London Day Surgery we offer a number of options for removing varicose veins in legs and restoring a smoother appearance to your legs:-

Our expertise in today's modern surgery techniques, combined with our continual investment in the latest state of the art equipment, allows every suitable procedure to be completed on a convenient day-surgery basis.

Another type of relief from vulvar varicose veins you can try is by wearing the V Brace. It is a support brace worn like underwear that will give you extra support to help with vulvar varicose vein. This adjustable brace can also help with back aches, leg aches and other symptoms associated with vulvar varicose veins.

The laser beam can cut, seal or vaporize skin tissue and blood vessels. Though Lasers have been used for the treatment of skin lesions since the 1960's, wide use of lasers for medical treatments is a relatively recent development. Recently, technological advances have improved lasers, making laser surgery a preferred method of treatment for various conditions one of which is Varicose Veins.

Exercising, losing weight, elevating your legs when resting and not crossing them when sitting can help keep varicose veins from getting worse. Avoid alcohol, which can cause the veins in your legs to dilate. Surgery such as vein stripping and ligation (removal of the varicose vein), or sclerotherapy of veins (injecting with a solution that causes scarring, which closes the vein) may be recommended. Vein stripping is a very extensive procedure, and it is usually reserved for patients who are experiencing a lot of pain or who have skin ulcers. If you are driving on a trip or working at a desk all day, try to get up and walk around every hour or so to allow the muscles to pump the blood out of the veins. Do not cross your legs when sitting.

Who is at risk for varicose veins? There are numerous risk factors for varicose veins. These risks include a family history of varicose veins, obesity, pregnancy, hormonal changes at menopause, work that requires prolonged standing or sitting, and past vein diseases such as phlebitis (inflammation of a superficial vein) or deep venous thrombosis (blood clot in the deeper veins). Women also tend to suffer from varicose veins more than men. In addition, varicose veins can appear after trauma to the area.

Pelvic Varicose Veins Pelvic varicose veins usually happen during pregnancy. During pregnancy, there is an increase in the level of hormones and amount of blood passing through the veins, which can cause swelling in the pelvic region. This in turn can result in pelvic varicose veins.

Even if you still do not notice the appearance of varicose veins in your legs that does not necessarily mean that you can no longer acquire them in time. Varicose veins are a very common condition and are usually a result of several things. It can be triggered by a person's daily activities, genetic inclination, as well as ones health.

Dermal fillers are made from a variety of materials and the effects can be either temporary or permanent, depending on the type of filler. Restylane Perlane can be used for shaping facial contours, on the cheeks and chin, correcting deep folds and for the volume augmentation of the lips.

ELVES/ELVT Laser ablation ("ELVeS","EVLT") is a new non-surgical way of treating varicose veins which has been developed over the past five years at centres in USA, Spain and Germany. It is performed as an outpatient "walk in, walk out" procedure with no requirement for general anaesthetic or overnight stays in hospital. The laser treatment involves the insertion of a laser fibre into the varicose vein of the thigh from the knee to the groin using ultrasound imaging to guide the way. The laser fibre is then withdrawn along the vein, heating it from within to close it, using local anaesthetic to minimise discomfort. The treatment session lasts in the region of one hour.

Spider veins can be confused with varicose veins because they are similar, however usually they can be identified because of their size. Spider veins are smaller and are found closer to the surface of the skin. These veins are usually red or blue in color. They mostly are present on the legs, but can also be present on the face of individuals. Spider veins can vary in size and got their name from their similarity to a spider's web.

How can varicose veins be treated? There are several ways to treat varicose veins, depending on the symptoms and types of veins present: 1. Compression stockings: The conservative management of varicose veins is to wear compression hose, exercise, control your weight, and elevate your legs above your waist as much as possible in order to drain the vein blood out of your legs. Compression hose will assist the vein in pumping blood up the leg and back to the heart. However, this technique will not make the varicose veins go away. Nevertheless, the use of compression hose is very important in not just preventing worsening of varicose veins, but also in preventing recurrent problems after treatment. 2. Sclerotherapy: This technique is used for the treatment of smaller varicose veins, as well as reticular veins and spider veins. A small amount of a medication (sclerosant) is injected directly into the diseased vein. The medication irritates the inner lining of the vein and causes it to seal shut. The newer types of sclerosants are not painful when injected using a very tiny needle, and multiple sites of injection are typically needed. In addition, one usually needs anywhere from 2-6 treatments to obtain 70-80% clearance of the spider veins. The procedure is performed quickly and easily without the need for anesthesia. Sometimes, we use ultrasound guidance for sclerotherapy. The number of treatments required will vary with each individual, depending on the extent of visible varicosities and spider veins. A range of 2-6 treatments can be expected in order to achieve a 70-80% clearance of the spider veins. We also use a Lyra 1064 nm YAG laser to treat stubborn spider veins. 3. Surgical Stripping: In the past, surgical removal or "stripping" of the diseased vein out of the leg was the best treatment we could offer patients with vein problems. This procedure required an operating room, general or spinal anesthesia, and recovery times that varied from 2-6 weeks. Vein stripping is an antiquated procedure and should be very rarely used in the management of varicose veins with the newer techniques that are currently available. 4. Microphlebectomy: This procedure involves the use of several, 1 mm, tiny incisions along the course of the leg veins in order to remove the diseased vein in segments. These tiny incisions heal well with minimal discomfort. Microphlebectomy can be performed by itself or in combination with another type of vein treatment. 5. Endovenous Laser Therapy: The use of lasers in the management of vein problems is replacing the standard surgical approach to treating large varicose veins. With Endovenous Laser Therapy (EVLT) a very thin fiber or catheter is inserted into the diseased vein through a small needle puncture in the leg, requiring only local anesthesia. The laser delivers energy directly to the inner lining of the vein, causing the vein to close. The procedure can be performed in the physician's office in approximately one hour. Patients are usually able to resume their routine activities immediately after the procedure.

Researching more about varicose veins and how it can be triggered as well as its symptoms and preventive measures is definitely the right way for you to know how to effectively deal with it. Even if you do not have varicose veins just yet, it is better to be safe than sorry.
